Choose an EDC tray around the gear you actually empty from your pockets—and the way you pick it up again the next morning.
1. Check your carry, not just the tray's footprint
Put your phone, keys, pocket light and longest tool on the desk before shopping. Measure the phone with its case on. Include a protruding key clip, a bulky fob and anything that adds length to a tool. Those details matter more than whether the empty tray looks spacious in a photograph.
VERTEX Dock's outside dimensions are 300 × 205 × 22 mm. That tells you how much desk space it occupies, not the usable size of each compartment. Compare the layout with your actual kit. If a close fit matters, ask for the relevant internal measurement before ordering; a full-tray measurement cannot confirm it.
2. Give each compartment a job
Five compartments are useful when they match your routine. You might separate keys and loose hardware, keep a light beside your pocket tool, and leave the central area for a larger item. Leave enough room to grasp an object without moving everything around it. You do not need to fill every section.
Think about the next morning as well as the evening pocket dump: which items leave with you, and which stay at the desk? Dock's cable-routing slots provide a route for your own cables. Check where the connector will sit and how the cable reaches your charger. Charging equipment and cables are not included.

3. Decide whether a substantial aluminum tray suits your desk
Dock weighs 1,735 g, approximately 1.7 kg. This is a tray to give a regular place on your desk, not something selected for packing light. Consider that weight if you often clear your work surface or switch workspaces. Silicone feet sit underneath the tray.
The body is CNC-machined from solid 6061 aluminum, with a hard-anodized finish. The attraction is the machined geometry, defined compartments and substantial metal construction. Even with a hard-anodized finish, keep contact surfaces free of grit, especially around loose metal items.
Choose Obsidian Black, Apex Red or Cobalt Blue to suit your existing desk and carry. Let close-up photographs guide your finish choice; a color name alone tells you little about how the tray will look beside your gear.
4. Finish the setup with forged carbon fiber pads
Keys down, pocket light out, tomorrow's carry ready to pick up. The optional VERTEX Dock Premium Pad set adds a fitted contact surface and a distinct material contrast to that daily routine. The mottled black-and-gray forged carbon fiber complements the machined aluminum, while the inset microfiber vegan leather provides a soft-touch surface beneath your gear.
The set includes five fitted pads, each 3 mm thick overall, shaped for Dock's five compartments. On the front, a forged carbon fiber frame surrounds the microfiber insert. Turn a pad over to see the complete forged carbon fiber back panel. The microfiber is synthetic vegan leather.
Choose Onyx Black for a restrained, tonal setup or Ember Orange for a brighter contrast around your carry. Keep the contact surfaces and your tools free of grit as part of regular care. The five-piece pad set is sold separately; the VERTEX Dock tray and pictured gear are not included.
5. Make these checks before ordering
- Fit: confirm space for your cased phone, key clip and longest tool.
- Placement: allow for the tray's footprint, weight and your cable route.
- Contents: choose the tray finish; add the five-piece pad set separately if wanted.
See the VERTEX Dock EDC Tray for finish options and full specifications, and the matching Premium Pad set for its material details. Phones, tools, chargers, cables and other pictured accessories are not included.
